Appointment Policies and Information
Reproductive Health Services is now offering the abortion pill by mail in Illinois. To qualify, patients need to have an Illinois address and be in Illinois at the time of their telehealth appointment. Make a telehealth abortion appointment today to be screened.
We recognize that many of our patients are caregivers and understand that you may need to bring children with you to your appointment. If you plan to bring children to your appointment, please read our policies below.
For medication abortion appointments:
Children may accompany you throughout the duration of your appointment.
For surgical abortion appointments:
If you are bringing children with you to your surgical abortion, we recommend that an additional adult be present. For your convenience, we offer a designated family room at our Fairview Heights location where you, your children, and your support person may use throughout your appointment.
If you will not be receiving sedation, children 9 years of age or older may wait in the waiting room unaccompanied during your exam. Children under 9 years old must be accompanied by another adult.
If you will receive sedation, you must have another adult present to supervise children. Children and the supervising adult may stay in our family room during your appointment.
For all other appointments:
Children can accompany you throughout the duration of your appointment. If you require a sensitive exam, such as a pelvic exam, you may decide to have your child or children in the exam room with you or in the waiting room. Children 9 years of age or older may wait in the waiting room unaccompanied during your exam. Children under 9 years old must be accompanied by another adult.
Services Offered
You can fill your birth control prescriptions at our health center instead of the pharmacy. on a walk-in basis.
You can come to us for services that don’t require a medical exam. For example, birth control education and supplies; emergency contraception (AKA the morning after pill); pregnancy testing and counseling; STD testing, and testing and treatments for urinary tract infections.
Specialty Services
You may be able to get your birth control pills mailed to you. Ask the health center staff for more information.
Pills by Mail is available at this health center — a service that delivers birth control pills to your home each month. Ask the health center staff for more information.
